Why We Exist
Finding clarity by removing what no longer matters

Ember & Oak Rise exists to help people find greater clarity by removing the noise, assumptions and unnecessary complexity that can get in the way of good decisions. Through The Subtraction Principle,
books, programs and practical tools, we explore a simpler way to understand what matters, make clearer choices and act with greater intention.
When More Becomes Too Much
Clarity can be difficult to find when everything demands your attention.
Modern life gives us more information, choices, expectations and demands than ever before. Yet more does not always create clarity. It can create noise, complexity and uncertainty, making it harder to recognise what matters and decide what to do next.

About Laurent
The person behind Ember & Oak Rise
My work began with a simple question: Why does having more information and more choices sometimes make it harder to know what to do?
Over time, I became increasingly interested in what happens when we look in the opposite direction—not at what we can add, but at what we can remove. That exploration led to a different way of thinking about clarity, decision-making and intentional action.
This became The Subtraction Principle: a practical approach built around removing what interferes with seeing what matters. Ember & Oak Rise grew from that idea, with the aim of making this way of thinking accessible through books, programs and practical tools.
